The Clicks BabyClub Meetup event will be an exciting and informative full day event for mothers as well as those are soon-to-be mothers. This will be an opportunity to gain insight into the latest parenting techniques from parenting experts and celebrity mothers. There will also be workshops and exhibitions displaying the newest and innovative baby and toddler products and toys.
The event will be divided into four themes.
- Pregnancy Sense.
- Baby Sense.
- Play Sense.
- Parenting Sense.
Each theme will include four 15 minute talks by parenting experts and celebrities such as Jo-Ann Strauss.
Some of the speakers at the event:
- Chris Forrest
The MC, Chris Forrest, is one of South African's well-known comedians. Known for his dry sense of humour, wit and intelligence, Chris is sure to leave the audience in stitches.
- Jo-Ann Strauss
Jo-Ann Strauss is known best for winning Miss South Africa in 2000 and co-presenting Pasella and Top Billing. Her greatest achievement however, is raising two beautiful children. Jo-Ann will be sharing some inspirational parenting stories and advice – especially aimed at the businesswoman who has to juggle a career and parenthood.
- Meg Faure
Meg Faure is an occupational therapist with an interest in babies and toddlers. She specialises in irritable infants, sleep problems, emotional engagement difficulties and fussy eating. Meg seeks to assist parents in nurturing their baby's emotional world in all aspects of her work.
- Nikki Bush
Nikki Bush is a parenting expert who's helped many parents build great relationships with their children by turning ordinary, everyday moments into extraordinary memories. Nikki helps busy parents future-proof their children despite their busy lives through wisdom, creativity and practical solutions.
- Britta McLaren
Britta is a paediatrician who runs a practice from the Morningside Medi-clinic. She is currently doing a fellowship in paediatric pulmonology. Her special interests include breastfeeding, feeding difficulties and allergies. Britta is a naturalist and tries avoid unnecessary interventions and treatments.
- Ann Richardson
Ann is a qualified nurse and midwife who has over 30 years' experience in midwifery and paediatrician. Ann has numerous certificates in child health, sensory integration, vaccinology, asthma and allergy, nutrition and sleep medicine.
- Katherine Megaw
Katherine Megaw qualified in 1995 as a registered dietitian and then studied a specialist diploma from Johns Hopkins in the USA where she qualified as a clinical paediatric dietitian.
She is passionate about helping both the medical community and the public navigate through an abundance of nutritional information and their do's and don'ts. She then interprets this information and teaches its practical application.
- Liz Senior
Liz is often interviewed on local and national radio station on that are in line with child stimulation. Liz has also written articles on motor and exercise related topics for young children in mind for national magazines. She's also given talks and hosted workshops for parents and teachers, coordinated and lectured for the 'Movement Education for Children' and 'National Fitness Convention'.
- Mark Tomlinson
Mark is a clinical psychologist with a PhD from the University of Reading in the UK and is currently a professor in the Department of Psychology at Stellenbosch University. Mark specialises in understanding infant and child development in the context of poverty, violence and adversity. He has a special interest in understanding infant and child development in the context of caregiver mental illness.
