‘Nsele’, means ‘honey badger’ in isZulu, and the sighting of one is said to bring luck, good fortune or even a miracle.
One could say that Nsele Safari's and Lodge is an offering of luck and good fortune, in that your stay grants you a truly authentic safari experience that won't blow your budget.
In short, a treehouse cabin that overlooks the African savannah.
The cabin is semi self-catering that’s equipped with a kettle, a microwave, toaster and small fridge. There’s also a braai area for a small braai - please be careful when braaing because the area is at high risk for veldfires. The cabin sleeps a maximum of four people. There are two extra beds in the lounge area for the kids, one a single bed and the other a pullout couch.
Eating at Nsele
The local cuisine introduces you to exotic tastes of the bushveld - co-owner, Stephanie, and her talented culinary team are always cooking up a storm to wow their guests' palettes. Breakfast and dinner is at an extra cost but so worth it!
The communal and entertainment areas
The open-air dining area grants you the opportunity to enjoy breakfasts in the warming sunshine or for evening meals, under a bed of stars.
You'll find warmth by the boma area when it's chilly in the evenings. A bonfire is lit for guests to crowd around, socialise and take refuge from the cold.
On hotter days, when it's too humid for a game drive, grab something from the bar and laze about on a pool lounger or go swimming.
Exciting game viewing opportunities and more
With the establishment located in the greater Kruger National Park biosphere and bordering the ever popular Thornybush Game Reserve, there is ample opportunity to spot wildlife on bush walks and game drives.
A ‘Big Five’ game drive: you'll spot animals easily aboard the platform, open-aired Land Rover that's used by the lodge, including four of the Big Five, as well as plains game and various birds.
More of a night owl? That shouldn’t mean you missing out on game viewing altogether. Book a night game drive and watch on for flurries of activity in the bush as nocturnal life starts up for the night.
Experience the local culture at a nearby village
A festive, spirited dining experience. Get a glimpse into the local way of life as you tuck into a traditional plate of food, drink sorghum beer, and learn local dances.
Precautionary measures to consider
Nsele Safari’s and Lodge is located in a Malaria area so it is advised to take anti-malarial medication, especially in summer. Mosquito nets are located in your room for added protection.
