The Details
Widen your horizons with a truly unique dining experience at Queen Sheba Ethiopian Restaurant.

Tease your taste buds with the unfamiliar fragrances and flavours of Ethiopian cuisine, coupled with exotic dancing and a traditional coffee ceremony (day of week dependent).

Starters are vegetarian-friendly and a delectable show of what’s to come. For example, Sambussa is an excellent introduction to the eating culture and is a pastry shell filled with lentils, onion, green pepper and herbs.

For mains, fill up on their Dora Wot Stew, which is a tenderly cooked chicken stew seasoned with Ethiopian spices and served with a boiled egg. Or go for the vegetarian version - Misor Wat is a lentil-based stew cooked in a berbere sauce.

Starters

Sambussa: A pastry shell filled with lentils, onion, green pepper and herbs
Azefa: Ethiopian lentils and mustard salad (simple, nourishing and zesty lentils salad with a tang and spicy mustard dressing)

Mains

Doro Wot: Spicy Ethiopian chicken stew (tenderly cooked chicken leg with traditional Ethiopian spiced chicken stew served with boiled egg)
Special Tibs: Lamb meat, sauteed with seasoned herb, pan-fried with berbere flavour served with flavours of onion and tomato
Shiro Wot - (Ethiopian style chickpeas flour sauce): Seasoned milled chickpeas flour cooked with onion and with special spices
Miser Wot (Ethiopian lentil stew): Crushed red lentil cooked with our special berbere sauce.

End with a traditional coffee ceremony.

Coffee forms a sacred part of the culture; it’s a sign of friendship and an excellent example of true-to-form Ethiopian hospitality.

The coffee is sweet, with lots of sugar, and no milk, and snacks may be provided depending on the household.

The ceremony is a drawn-out affair where a relaxed conversation is encouraged.

Entertainment

You and your partner will be privy to traditional dancing if you visit over the weekend.

Be entranced by traditional dances performed by both men and women. The dances are known for intense shoulder movements - the rolling of the shoulder blades, bouncing the shoulders and jilting of the chest. These dances are typically performed to folk songs.
