No matter who “Dad” is in your life, Sunday 19th June is the day to celebrate all that he means to you.
The gift might be sorted, but you may still be short on ideas of things to do on the day.
Here’s our top pick 10 of Things To Do With Dad this Father’s Day
- Hire his favourite movie (Netflix is a great place to start, otherwise DStv’s Box Office or you can dust off the DVDs), set up all of his favourite treats (popcorn, chocolate, sweets, biltong – whatever takes his fancy), and make sure you have a comfy viewing space.
- Build a pillow fort – this is a great idea, especially if the kids are younger and need to get rid of some energy. Anyone for a pillow fight?
- Puzzles and games are a great way to interact with Dad, especially if you work together as a team. Puzzles are particularly fun if the end result can be framed.
- Arrange a local hike with light dad-centric snacks to munch along the way. It doesn’t have to be epic – check out local parks and nature reserves.
- Cook something together – plan a menu, buy the ingredients, print out the recipe, and allocate responsibilities. You can even theme the occasion and decorate the table accordingly. Online cooking classes are also a great idea!
- Ask him to compile a to-do list he hasn’t quite managed to get done and let him take a break while you help him out. Repacking some shelves in the garage might be the place to start
- Plant a tree together – not only will this be a gift that keeps on giving, it also helps out the environment!
- Create a scrapbook of memories together – collect photos, memorabilia even notes from friends and family, and spend time planning out a special keepsake.
- Picnic brunch sounds like the best way to start a day – pack his favourites and find a spot to stretch out, eat, snooze and spend time together.
- Create a playlist of his favourite tunes, either via iTunes or Spotify. And if he’s old school, you better get cracking on burning that CD!
We hope that this list of things to do with dad this Father’s Day helps you make the best choice this holiday!
