GoDriveIn

Experience retro drive-in movies in the heart of Cape Town.

Open every Friday and Saturday night, GoDriveIn is the perfect family, friend and date night destination. Offering a wide range of movies from timeless classics, new releases, and blockbuster films which you can experience, in true nostalgic style, from the comfort and privacy of your very own car (front or boot!).

Come early for the full experience, get a good spot, and visit their restaurant and snack hut – now also delivering food and snacks directly to your car.

The drive-in experience

GoDriveIn is situated in an enclosed and secure open-air lot between Woodstock and Salt River. Movies are projected onto a permanent, solid nine-metre screen.

Doors open at 6pm and movies start when it’s dark (check your ticket for the movie start time).

On arrival, you will be allocated a bay. You can watch the movie front or rear-facing (the kids love watching from a cosy car boot!). You are also welcome to pop out a few camping chairs and sit under the stars.

Audio is transmitted via an FM transmitter and can be controlled through your car’s FM radio.  You will be provided with the frequency on arrival. If you don’t have a working car radio GoDriveIn hires portable radio’s at R100 per car.

Food

GoDriveIn’s roadhouse restaurant, ELGREEYO, offers a selection of burgers, Mexican and coffee. You can WhatsApp them your order and they will deliver it directly to your car. GoDriveIn is Halaal friendly.

GoDriveIn also has a fully stocked snack hut offering all your traditional movie snacks, such as popcorn, chips, chocolate and slushies. Combos can also be pre-ordered.

  • How many people in a car again? 5 maximum, R30 per person thereafter.
