ITINERARY (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
7:00 AM – Welcome & Introduction
- Meet at Fish Hoek Athletic Club, where Chief Kingsley, a respected elder of the Gorachouqua tribe, welcomes guests.
- Experience a traditional indigenous song and an introduction to the history and spiritual significance of the walk.
7:30 AM – Hike to Peers Cave
- Embark on a scenic moderate-difficulty hike to Peers Cave, with insights into Khoisan history and traditions along the way.
8:15 AM – Explore Peers Cave
- Discover the archaeological history of Peers Cave, known for its ancient rock art and Khoisan cultural significance.
- Engage in storytelling and learn about the sacred practices and beliefs of the indigenous community.
9:00 AM – Snack Break & Cultural Discussions
- Refresh with a selection of fruits and nuts while Chief Kingsley shares insights into indigenous wisdom and survival practices.
9:30 AM – Herbal Tea Ceremony
- Participate in an Indigenous Herbal Tea Ceremony, where you’ll learn about the medicinal properties of native plants and enjoy freshly prepared herbal tea.
10:00 AM – Trek to Tunnel Cave
- Continue the hike to Tunnel Cave, a significant Khoisan sacred site with celestial alignments related to seasonal solstices.
10:45 AM – Meditation & Reflection in Tunnel Cave
- Engage in a guided meditation session, allowing for a deep connection with the land and the energy of the sacred space.
11:30 AM – Reflective Hike Back
- Walk back to the starting point, reflecting on the stories, traditions, and wisdom shared throughout the journey.
12:00 PM – Closing Ceremony
- Conclude the experience with a closing ceremony, where participants receive a herbal pack as a token of appreciation.
