  • Mandi beef or chicken for 2 people
  • 2 desserts of your choice: either a crepe or a Syrian pancake

Have a meal to remember at Cape Town’s premier Middle Eastern eatery, Syrian Kitchen. Their authentic cuisine includes mandi and tawook.

Mandi is a delicious meat dish cooked in a taboon, or underground cooking pit, not unlike a tandoor. Mixed with a delectable mix of turmeric, black pepper, cardamon and cumin, the meat is slow cooked in steam for up to 8 hours in an underground clay oven and served with spiced long grain or basmati rice.

Tawook is a lemon and yoghurt based chicken marinade, served on kebabs with hummus, pita and traditional Syrian toum (garlic paste).
