- A minimum of 2 nights’ stay over weekends

The River Valley Nature Reserve is surrounded by a lovely portion of the Ivungu River in the shape of a horseshoe. The iVungu River which meanders down through a valley of hills into the Indian Ocean at the well-known Uvongo Beach, where you can find the iVungu falls. Within a tiny region, it has a diversity of distinct habitats. On the reserve, you can witness antelope, small mammals, and a variety of birds.
It is River Valley Nature Reserve’s delight to be able to welcome guests in their upscale cottages, a small private campsite, a picnic area, and walking routes around the reserve so that they may enjoy this stunning region!
The reserve serves as a reminder of the once untouched natural coastline with its grassland, riverine and coastal forest.
This is the ideal place to escape if you are looking to get away for a much-needed breather.
River Valley Nature Reserve offers well-appointed cottages situated in a peaceful and picturesque part of the reserve close to the river.
Each cottage has two large bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, including a shower and a bath. The lounge, dining room and kitchen are open-plan making it perfect for family mealtime. The lounge and bedrooms open up to a large verandah looking onto a picturesque riverine forest.

Things to do in and around the area:
The River Valley Nature Reserve is not short of activities both onsite and off. There is something to keep everyone entertained and makes for perfect family bonding time.
Onsite activities include:
Birdwatching – if you are an avid birder, then you will have a field day during your stay. There are over 130 different species to look for including the Crowned Eagle, African Fish Eagle, Narina Trogon, African Finfoot and Green Malkoha
Fishing – fresh water fishing for Bass and Tilapia can be done in the river on the reserve. A catch and release policy applies on the reserve.
Hiking – a scenic, well marked, self guided walk is available on the reserve. The route passes through grasslands and riverine forests with a number of viewpoints. Antelope such as Impala, Nyala, Grey and Blue Duiker can be seen.
Picnicking – There are more than a few scenic picnic spots to choose from if you are opting for a more relaxed afternoon. Enjoy all your favourite snacks while lazing about on the grass.
Family photo shoots – the reserve lends itself to magnificent backdrops for photo shoots. Take the opportunity to record some of your memories with a professional photo shoot. Please note that your shoot needs to be booked in advance and is subject to availability and weather conditions being favorable.
