Located in the heart of the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, Beacon Vlei Guest Farm offers exciting activities and a world of history. Home to hundreds of beautiful bird species, and wildlife such as Duiker, Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Serval, Rooikat, porcupine and wild pigs to name a few. Their 23 Hectare private dam and the surrounding wetland area is a wondrous place to explore. 

Beacon Vlei Guest Farm is a family-friendly establishment centrally located on the famed Midlands Meander, and only 1 km from Michaelhouse School. The Midlands Meander is central to many arts and crafts shops. There are also many fine restaurants, delicatessen and cheese farms in the Balgowan district, within 3 to 5 km of Beacon Vlei.

The Otter Cottage

Otter cottage is the newest addition to the beautiful establishment, completed in November 2011 it is a similar Old Natal style design to Crane Cottage except the bedrooms are on the sides of the cottage rather than on the back. It sleeps 4, with two king bedrooms both en suite. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower. The other bathroom has a bath and a separate walk-in shower. The central room is an open plan kitchen, dining and living room which opens out onto the veranda looking over the 23-hectare private dam. The central room has a large fireplace and a TV that has Dstv included. The cottage comes equipped with braai facilities for the best time imaginable!
