HOW TO PREPARE FOR A PHOTOSHOOT 
  • Plan your outfits carefully. Choose several outfits that project the image you want to capture. Make sure the clothes fit well, are comfortable, and make you feel confident. Coordinate colors if shooting with others. Avoid bland colors like khaki and white. Pack your outfits the night before.
  • Consider hair and makeup. If possible, have hair and makeup done by professionals to take the pressure off and ensure you look your best. At minimum, have your makeup done professionally as it can make or break a shoot. Practice your hair and makeup ahead of time.
  • Gather any props or accessories. Think of special items you want included in the photos, like books, awards, sports equipment, etc. Make sure they represent the image you want to portray. Assemble props a few days before to avoid rushing.
  • Eat well, stay hydrated, and get plenty of rest. Poor diet, dehydration, and lack of sleep can make you look worse no matter how great your outfit is. Eat nutritious meals, drink lots of water, and aim for 8 hours of sleep in the days leading up to the shoot.
  • Practice finding a confident mindset. Talk yourself up and practice feeling peaceful, powerful and self-assured as you prepare. True confidence will shine through. Have fun with it and let your inner diva out!
