What to expect:

  • The friendly guides will meet you at the permit office of Witsands Aquifer Nature reserve A.K.A. (Atlantis Dunes)
  • You will then get sandboarding permits from the permit office and submit them to your guide. The guide will walk you to the dunes, assist you in waxing the sandboard and give you some safety and training.

Sandboarding permits are as follows: 

  • Adults 18 years and above- R68,00 kids
  • Age 3 to 17 years and pensioners over 60- R42,00
  • You will be hiking and sandboarding down and across the dunes exploring the beauty of Cape Town’s ever-changing Atlantis Dunes
  • Wear comfortable clothing
  • Bring: refreshments: drinks and snacks, phones or cameras

What is sandboarding? 

Sandboarding is a sport where you stand with two feet strapped onto a board and slide or carve arcs down a dune.

The best part about sandboarding is that it is easy to learn and fun. It is a very accessible, all-season activity that does not require investment in boarding gear – all you need is a board, some wax polish and a sense of adventure.

Sandboarding in South Africa is fast becoming accepted as a mainstream sport. A growing number of adrenaline junkies spend hours on end hiking up endless dunes and boarding at incredible speeds.

A wax polish is applied to the base of your board to give you a smooth and fast ride!

  • Spectator permits get a free walking permit from the permit office or if driven by a 4x4 you purchase a R50pp spectator permit (Witsands Aquifer Nature Reserve Entry fee)
  • Minimum booking of 2 or contact us to join a group.
  • Please note that the price excludes a sandboarding permit activity fee which is what you purchase yourself on arrival at the permit office
  • Sandboarding permits are as follows: adults 18 years and above R68,00 kids age 3 to 17 years and pensioners over 60 R42,00
  • Merchant cancellation policy: 48 hours. No shows forfeit voucher. No refunds
