Hope Distillery is a small South African distillery based in Salt River. Described as relaxed, discrete and unpretentious, this little gem is polished with sophistication in the most charming way possible.
It’s grunge, but delectable. Set up by two ex-lawyers who left their corporate jobs in London, followed their hearts and turned their hands to distilling and producing small batch gins and other spirits.

“Visited Strange Love Cocktail Bar inside the distillery. On holiday from the UK I found the bar mentioned in a YouTube video when researching places to go. As soon as I heard about how many martinis were on offer I knew I would be going there. Nicely decorated vibes, the two female bar staff were lovely and chatty. We loved the variety of martinis on offer and the opportunity to do the flight to try. We love alcohol forward, short style cocktails but it’s not always the easiest to find places that cater around that.”
“Tucked away in Salt River, Cape Town lies this gin haven. Hope distillery is home to multiple craft gins in South Africa. Only open on Saturdays, make sure to book before going and their cheeseboard is divine. Make sure to pop over for a tasting & pet Mr Scruff!”
