SOWETO WALKING TOUR
Your walking tour will start on Vilakazi Street, renowned for housing two Nobel Prize winners, Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Here you can indulge in a traditional Soweto breakfast which is usually “fatcakes” with add-ons.
Once done and energised, the tour will be a cultural walk, walking to the Hector Pieterson Memorial, a tribute to the youth of the 1976 Soweto Uprising. Here, you’ll gain insight into Soweto’s pivotal role in the anti-apartheid struggle and honour those who fought for freedom.
Your walking tour will continue with your group heading to local drinking and hang-out spots for a beer break with locals. And as midday approaches, you’ll go for lunch, an authentic Soweto Kota, a loved street burger-like sandwich.
Your group will then make its way to view parts of Soweto from a higher place to learn more about the township. Orlando Stadium, Orlando Towers, and more can be seen from this view. You’ll indulge in savoury treats from local vendors, to better understand Soweto’s dynamic street food & beer culture.
